This was my competition piece that I submitted to a monthly contest under the vehicle category. This is a Retribution class battleship which has met it's end to a space kraken of the Hive Fleet Kraken.

The biocreature was hand sculpted by me on a base of tin foil dipped in resin.

I won the conversion competition, and lost horribly to the painting competition. :)

Fantastic work on that little vignette. I'd love to see if professionally photographed.

Were you consciously referencing the (now ancient) Advanced Space Crusade artwork?

Thank you. :D I don't think it'd look that great with professional photography, the paint job is tabletop standard. :/

I'm not sure if I was referencing Space Crusade, but these pics did come up when I did my initial research. [link] [link] and I also found this one in some of the BFG downloadables. [link] And then I just took the general kraken design like from Pirates of the Caribbean and mashed them all together. :D

Ah. The first two are from the Space Fleet boardgame that GW released way back in the early 90s. I think the latter one was the one I had in mind.
